The MIDI mapping of the parameters can be cumbersome and time-consuming. MIDI controllers give hands-on control over VST plugins. The software and sample sets supplies will keep you going for a long time as will the plugins, and the NI plugins are virtually endless.Native Instruments celebrates its 25th birthday with a sale on its portable NKS MIDI keyboard Komplete Kontrol M32, on sale for 89€ for a limited time. The controls integrate very well with most daw's without problem or with simple guides on you tube. Ignore the fact that it does not have drum pads, the keys work just as well due to being fully velocity sensitive, and if you really need a drum pad then grab yourself a dedicated usb pad. They keyboard on this M32 is leaps and bounds ahead of the Akai, and the build quality feels more like a professional item instead of a kids 'my first keyboard'. Very impressed with the M32 keyboard, as was expecting a some what cheap feeling item along the lines of the Akai version. Very well constructed mini keyboard, one of the best if you are looking for quality over extra features. Touch strips vs wheels for pitch/mod (if that's an issue for you, look at NI's A series keyboards). Not full size keys (though that doesn't bother me) Touch sensitive encoder knobs with display Pitch and mod wheels are replaced by touch strips - probably because the unit isn't deep enough to fit full size wheels in.Įndless encoders (as opposed to limited knobs, so you can adjust things from where they are instead of jumping to the knob position when you alter something).
